Dr. Sharon Groenmeyer

Associate

Sharon has familiarity with the development sector in the SADC region.  She has performed assessments and due diligence on projects and programmes in the human rights sector. She has managed research and evaluation programmes in capacity building, baseline studies and education for UN agencies and non-government organisations.

She has over 20 years’ experience as an adult educator and curriculum developer of both face-to-face and e-learning.  She has worked as an external collaborator for the ILO Turin, Italy since 2002 on the Gender Poverty Employment as the main tutor and as one of a team of tutors for the Gender Mainstreaming open learning programme.

Sharon has also had the opportunity of conducting programmes on project planning, monitoring and evaluation and gender auditing. As a feminist researcher, she is familiar with the various gender frameworks and different research methods.  Sharon writes and publishes on social policy especially income generation and small, micro and medium enterprise development for women.  Other areas of research focus on women in male dominated sectors of agriculture and fishing.

She has a PhD in Gender and Development from the Department of Sociology and Political Science, University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway.
