The project focuses on developing an approach towards Data Quality Management. This involved an assessment of the administrative data sources generated by selected departments using a customised designed data discovery process at provincial level which is being piloted in selected departments. The quality of the data discovered is assessed on the basis of a limited application of SASQAF. The project is underpinned through a partnership between Statistics South Africa and the Department of the Premier with the support of Tridevworx.
The regulatory environment is also being assessed using a custom designed Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA). The current work was preceded with a Significance Test Report and Initial Regulatory Impact Assessment. Legislative frameworks such as the Public Service Act No 103 of 1994, Public Administration Management Act, No. 11 of 2014, Promotion of Access to Information Act, No. 2 of 2000, Public Finance Management Act No. 1 of 1999, Act No. 29 of 1999, Act 28 of 2003, Protection of Personal Information Act No. 4 of 2013 and various King Reports. The process is also guided by the Statistics Act No 6 of 1999 which serves as a central pillar. Institutional arrangements within and between departments are considered with particular reference to the data-governance related roles and responsibilities prevalent and required in each department.

Tridevworx presently provides technical support for a synthesis of this intricate, varied and challenging landscape. It is contributing towards the strategic guidance and direction required to achieving a full Regulatory Impact Assessment for Provincial-wide Data Governance (PWDG).
