Strategies on Provincial Skills Development culminating in a skills intelligence framework for the Western Cape via the Learning Cape Initiative

Project summary:
This project encompassed strategically heightening the skills development efforts in the Western Cape for closer alignment to national imperatives. It encompassed supporting the implementation of a Skills Development Forum (SDF) in the Western Cape as well as targeted interventions concerning the renewal of among others: the Western Cape SETA Cluster, a human resource development framework for the Western Cape and more recently (December 2012) conceptions towards implementing a skills intelligence framework in the Western Cape.
The project was an attempt to conceive both the framework for a skills development strategy in the Western Cape as well as introduce an understanding of the role of indicators and benchmarks for such an initiative. While it remained highly conceptual, the project was nonetheless important in stimulating debate which fed into the attempt to develop a Provincial Skills Development Forum in the Western Cape.
